High, High Speed

Verizon is starting a major roll out of their FiSO service. I sooo want this service. I would be delighted with the 20Mb/10Mb service, not to mention the 50Mb service. Near giddy, I tell you, near giddy. I do not know if I would want the 50Mb service (cost mainly) unless I was able to get a static IP and Verizon allowed hosting of personal servers (i.e. no port filtering). I want to setup a Vent server at the house. With this kind of bandwidth that can be done so easily and save me from having to rent one. Damn video game…

This really changes the scope of remote offices access. Think of the possible IT services that can be delivered to field based staff if bandwidth was not an issue. VoIP phones, near LAN speeds over VPN (providing you have the hardware to support it) for document access, disaster recovery replication, and remote backup. Seriously, I am tingly all over. These are exciting times.

BTW, Google Apps is going to have to wait until the weekend. ;-(
